Tactical shift
The beauty of the process blog - to record the different ways to attack the monster. The naval issue is too big at present to open up before I've really given some thought into how deeply I want to delve into civil society organisations. it also spans decades and I want some more time to think about how to deal with those permutations. So instead I'm going to shift back to some case studies.
I've already written about the case study of the royal visit of the Chinese Prince Zaifeng, however I have some good material on the visits of Thai royalty to Berlin. There is also some material about the Persian Shah, although I have to return to the archives to look at that stuff. And of course Tamasese of Samoa came to Berlin in 1911. Alongside that there is the visits of Japanese royals as well.
I want to get a sense of what it was that these royals believed was the worth of visiting the Kaiser, and why the Kaiser felt that hosting these extra-European royals was a good idea.
So first cab off the rank will be the Thai royals.
